Week 6 (D2 Playoffs)

Division I

Filton @ Ramstein

Filton is one game away from a conference championship. Ramstein’s young bunch has gotten better each week, so this game makes a statement for both programs. Last week,  Ramstein wore down Lakenheath 34-6 and Filton escaped a K-Town ambush, 14-13. Should be a good game. It is tough to beat Ramstein, in Ramstein…..

Lakenheath (0-5) @ Kaiserslautern (1-4)

K-Town is resurgent and took Filton to the limit. They hope to finish the season in fine fashion. Lakenheath wants to go out a winner.

Wiesbaden (2-3) @ Vilseck (1-4)

Wiesbaden needs to get back on track after their high octane offense sputtered at Patch, 14-2. Vilseck is trying to wrap up the season with a win. The Warriors need the win to lock in the Division I playoffs.

Patch (2-3) @ Heidelberg (5-0)

Will the real Patch “please stand up!”. The Panthers have found themselves and are playing some good football. They will need a great game to beat Heidelberg. Heidelberg is fast and talented and gearing up for a Division I championship run. Patch needs the win and a Wiesbaden loss to make the playoffs.

Division II

#3 South Bamberg (3-2) @  #2 North Mannheim (3-2)

Similar records, but different styles. Bamberg relies on running behind their large offensive line and throwing the deep ball to their good wide receivers. Mannheim is more diverse and can spread the ball to several backs. Both are talented and may have their best teams in a few years.

#3 North Baumholder (2-3) @ #2 South Naples (3-2)

Baumholder makes a long trip to Italy and is licking their wounds from a tough game versus Bitburg. Naples is energized from a 35-0 win over Vicenza and hopes to use Baumholder as a springboard to the semi-finals.

Hohenfels #4 South (3-2) @ #1 North Bitburg (5-0)

Hohenfels is the “Cinderella of the South”. They began the season very slowly, with big defeats against Naples and Ansbach, but have put together a 3 game win streak. They have surprised everyone. Bitburg has methodically swept through the North and will provide a much stiffer challenge.

#4 North ISB (2-3) @  #1 South Ansbach (5-0)

ISB has improved and pushed Mannheim (21-14) and Bitburg (12-0) to the limit before falling. Ansbach will provide a strong challenge to the visitors from the North.

Division III

Alconbury (3-1) @ Menwith Hill (1-3)

Tiny Menwith Hill (80 students) plays tough at home. Alconbury has more athletes and greater depth. Menwith Hill is the little kid who keeps coming back for more.

Sigonella (4-0) @ Brussels (0-3)

Sigonella looks to expand on its playoff #1 seed at winless Brussels. Brussels wants to go out with a win!
